It has been a while since I have gotten onto my blog. My fourth granddaughter Emily Elaine Miessner was born on September 28, 2009. She is a beautiful little daughter of God. She weighed 7 lbs. 14 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. I was able to spend about a week and a half with Anne and her family, so I got some good grandma time in. Emily had a little trouble at first gaining weight, but I think she is making up for that now. Anne starts her new job in Chicago as a Case Manager for the FDIC on November 30, 2009. That will be an exciting time for their family.

The drive to and from Kentucky was beautiful with all of the fall colors. I had wonderful weather there and back, which was really good because I did not realize until I got home that I really needed new tires on the Nissan, so I am so grateful that Heavenly Father watched over me the whole way.

My daughter Laura is pregnant and we are really praying that she will be able to keep this baby. She is sick so that is a good sign--but I think she is getting a bit tired of being sick and tired. She is in our prayers a lot.

My son John recently became engaged to Silver O'neal. John is in the Marines and Silver is in the Air Force--this should be interesting. I really hope they can get everything worked out. Silver is going to Church with John and I have talked with him about getting her started with the missionary lessons and going to the family ward instead of the singles branch. Silver seems like a nice young lady and I cannot wait to meet her over Christmas.

I worry a lot about my daughter Jenny. She is in her own little world in California and does not communicate with any of the rest of her family much. I just hope and pray for her safety each and every day. Someday I hope she will find us important again.

My good friend Steve Christiansen's daughter Sarah is getting married next week the day after Thanksgiving 11-27-2009 in the Draper, Utah Temple. I am so happy for her and Jacob Quinn and wish that I were able to go.

It is Clinton's family's turn for Thanksgiving this year. Thursday we are going to go to Salina to his sister Charlotte's, then on Saturday we are going to Coffeyville to have a Turkey day on Sunday with Donna and Rocky, etc at Clinton's step-mom Betty's house.

I will really miss going to see my family, but can't wait to see them at Christmas time.

Life is busy!

June 2, 2009

I know it has been a while, but there has been a lot going on in my life and in my family's life. I had another birthday on March 9, 2009 and was able to go to the Dallas Temple with my daughter Laura a few days before it and Laura gave me a Birthday party at her house on Sunday, March 8. Clinton had surgery on his left hand index finger the end of March and started physical therapy and is now back to work full-time again after being off almost five months. Pop, Laura, Jeremy, Jennifer and Iva all had birthdays in April.

May 2, Anne, Laura and John were able to come to my Hooding Ceremony for my MBA from Friends University. Anne is pregnant and due in the end of September--with my fourth granddaughter. May 4, John left for Marine Basic in San Diego, CA where he turned 23 on May 6th. On May 9th I graduated from Friends University with my MBA in Wichita, KS. On May 17th CC graduated from High School at Shawnee Heights here in Topeka, then turned 18 on May 25th.

Clinton and I took a fun trip to Branson, MO for a few days over Memorial Day weekend. Then the weekend of May 30 we went to my third granddaughter Kirsten's first dance recital--and it was so cute!!! Brought back a lot of memories of my three daughters when they were young and in dance classes. After that we went to Norman and celebrated with my parents. It was there 60th wedding anniversary; we took them to Marie Calendar's for dinner, then went to their house for cake and ice cream. It was a small family celebration, just like they wanted. I had them a beautiful placque made to hang on their wall. Life is very busy, but good. God is watching over us thankfully.

Back to work.

February 1, 2009

I cannot believe it is already February. The Super Bowl is on right now between Pittsburgh and Arizona. I am cheering for Arizona, but right now they are behind and it is almost half-time. I just finished baking a bunch of chocolate chip cookies.

CC shared a flu bug with me this weekend and last night I was not feeling well at all. I slept most of the day and am feeling better now.

I interviewed for an assistant manager position with BNSF over a week ago, but have not heard anything back yet.

Clinton goes back to the hand surgeon tomorrow morning at 8:15. Hopefully they will be able to do the surgery on his left hand-index finger soon so he can heal and get back to work. He does not do well long when not working. I guess that is why Heavenly Father always wants us to work and be anxiously engaged in a good cause. I took some cabinet doors off my kitchen cabinets a couple of weeks ago. He has painted two of them. I keep encouraging him--because that is something he can do with one hand. He has had to go to physical therapy everyday for the past couple of weeks.

Clinton and CC took the Drag Truck over to Dennis Miller's yesterday where CC and Dennis tore it down again...... They took the heads over to a place to have them looked at 'again'. I am not a fan of this hobby, hopefully they can get it fixed so we can get rid of it! This has been a nightmare that I voiced opposition to from the beginning. It has been a lesson in 'listening to your spouse'. I have tried to not stir things up lately because he knows it was a big mistake and he is trying to get rid of it.

I am trying also to encourage CC with his school work. I cannot believe his counselor allowed him to sign up for Astronomy, but they did and he is not doing well at all. He has to pass it in order to graduate along with taking Government which he is taking again and now has a C.
I just don't understand how his mother cannot take any interest in helping him in his school work by at least making sure he has his homework done.

Oh well--enough of that. I have plenty to keep me busy. I sent a valentine-missionary package of chocolate to Elder Adam Christiansen in Montreal, Canada yesterday. Hopefully he will get it by valentines' day. I know his dad has a lot on his plate right now as he was told he had to lay off some of his employees last Friday in Houston.

I am terribly worried about this economy under the control of tax and spend liberal democrats--who want socialized everything. We are mortgaging ourselves into oblivion. BNSF 'furloughed' about 3,000 scheduled employees last week. We have about 700 locomotives in storage along with over 4,000 freight cars. Thus they don't need the people to run them because the business is not there. Luckily in my department 'Finance' we are already short handed and have too much work to do. There are only three of us in my group that do what I do!!! Amber, Sherlyn and me. We are terribly busy.

Better go and get my cookie-kitchen cleaned up...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009!

Christmas was fairly quiet this year, mostly just me and Clinton. We did not get CC until noon, so afternoon on Christmas was good. I cooked a ham and some other things and we took them over to Clinton's brother Larry's house and spent the afternoon with Larry and Debbie, CC, Debbie's children, parents and grandchildren. We ate, played games and passed around/played dirty Santa gifts. The snow globe that I finally ended up with went around quite a bit. Clinton got a handmade belt-buckle that Debbie's dad made and CC got a new tie. The day was good--I was able to talk with my mom and dad and all of my children--even my daughter Jennifer called and wished me a Merry Christmas. Even my friend Steve from Oklahoma called to wish us a Merry Christmas. What more could we have wanted.

Since Clinton damaged his left hand and broke his index finger on December 18, 2008 at work we were unable physically to take everything out of the basement and go through it as we had planned. We did get the back bedroom cleaned out though and took a truck load to Salvation Army and a truck load to the ebay store. We did get our new TV set up and the speakers set up--but the receiver did not come in until Jan 2--the day after all our company left--oops...

Saturday afternoon we had the opportunity to drive to Salina to have lunch with Laura, Jeremy, Kirsten and the Allemans on their way to Denver, CO for their family reunion. It is great that Laura has such great in-laws that we get along with so well. We really enjoyed our visit with them.

CC left on Sunday morning 12-28-2008 to go on his last High School band trip to Florida. They played in two parades; the Citrus Bowl Parade on 12/30 and Universal's Macy Parade on 12/31. They went to Disneyworld and Sea World and from what I have heard--had a great time.

Laura, Jeremy, Kirsten, Anne, Sarah, and Kaley arrived on Monday evening, December 29th, 2008. After getting settled in and to bed--everyone slept well. On Tuesday we all went to the Topeka Zoo--it was a beautiful day and a perfect day for the zoo--not too cold and definitely not too hot. We then topped it off with a late lunch at Boss Hawg's for some good Kansas barbecue.

Wednesday - New Year's Eve the girls and I went to the Beauty school for manicures and had some girl fun. We had our black-eyed peas and ham, mashed potatoes, chicken, and so forth for a wonderful dinner, then we (the adults) watched 'The Black Night' and the kids watched a kid movie in my bedroom. At midnight we all watched the 'Ball' drop in New York City on TV and had sparkling apple juice and some snacks, then went to bed.

After a good breakfast of oatmeal and raisins everyone packed up and went on their way to their homes. They made it home safely--thank Goodness.

God has really Blessed us with a wonderful family and with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What more could anyone ever ask for.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
